Calling all school bands - now is the time to get your entry in for the next Rotary Club of Whitstable Battle of the Bands competition.

The previous contest earlier this year was over-subscribed with some bands disappointed.

Because of that, there will be two qualifying heats this time on Saturday, January 31, at the Community College, Whitstable, and Sunday, February 1, at Simon Langton Girls School, Canterbury.

Ten bands will be picked to compete in the final at the King’s Hall, Herne Bay, on March 7.

Organiser Rob Webb said: “Seven bands have already entered and other bands are invited to compete providing their members are all between the ages of 13 and 19 and in full-time secondary education in the local area.”

The winning band will get £500 and a demo CD. Second prize is £250 and £100 music equipment vouchers and third prize £150 in music equipment vouchers.

There will also be prizes for best musician and top vocalist.

The event is sponsored by FSC Music Ltd, Music Bay of Herne Bay, New Perspective and Chaucer Insurance.

Entries need to be in by mid January.
