Axe and sledgehammer used in restaurant raid

TWO armed robbers escaped with £2,000 from a Kent fast-food restaurant in the early hours of Friday.

The masked raiders, who were wielding an axe and a sledgehammer, broke into McDonald's in Commerical Road, Strood, near Rochester, and demanded staff open the safe.

Both of the robbers were male, of stocky build and around 6ft tall.

One was wearing a dark-coloured balaclava, a navy hooded top, navy trousers. The other was wearing a blue balaclava, a blue hooded Adidas top, blue jeans.

Both men wore white latex gloves.

Police are currently viewing CCTV footage as part of their investigation.
