A teenager has been recognised by the Girl Guides for keeping cool under pressure in an emergency situation.

Jessica Sacco, from Bethersden, was presented with her award by county commissioner Sue Sherlock during the annual gift service in front of 500 fellow guides and their families in St Teresa’s Church in Ashford.

They were told that when her mother went into labour early at their home in Church Hill the 13-year-old coped with her step father Chris Buckman and brother Joshua, two, called an ambulance and helped comfort her mother until Chris delivered baby Eleanor before the professionals arrived - then calmly went off to lessons at Homewood School in Tenterden.
