Attempts to use stolen credit card minutes after theft

A HANDBAG was taken from a blue VW Polo parked at the National Trust car park at Toys Hill, Brasted, near Sevenoaks.

The car’s rear window was smashed to get the bag between 2pm ands 3pm on Friday, July 21.

The victim, a Sevenoaks woman, has been advised by her credit card company that by 3.08pm two attempts had been made to use the card in nearby Westerham.

Sgt Simon Terry, said: "The theft shows just how quickly criminals can operate. On this occasion they were not successful in their attempts to use the credit card but the victim has still suffered the inconvenience of having her car window smashed and the loss of her handbag.

"Our advice is always the same: do not leave any items of value in your vehicles."

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact police on 01732 379217 (if possible quoting reference 9177) or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their name.
