Assault victim lost front teeth

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses following an assault in which a 40-year-old man lost his front teeth and suffered numerous facial injuries.

The incident occurred in Broom Hill Road, Strood, between midnight and 3am on New Year's Day.

The man was walking home when he was knocked unconscious. He says he does not recall any part of the assault. He was taken to hospital where his injuries were treated.

The assault is being investigated by Det Con Maxine Smyth who said: "We think this man was assaulted rather than fell over due to the nature of the injuries that he suffered.

"We are keen to hear from people who may be able to help us piece together how and why this crime occurred.

"I would like people to cast their minds back. Were they in the area of Broom Hill Road in the early hours of New Year's Day? Did they witness a disturbance or see anything suspicious?"

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at Medway police station on 01634 792521 quoting reference DZ/570/08 or Kent CrimeStoppers on 0800 555111.
