Lisa Dobriskey has not ruled out an assault on the medals at London 2012 – if, as expected, she is named in Team GB on Tuesday.

The Ashford AC star, from New Romney, put her injury and health woes of the past year behind her and gave herself every chance of making the Olympics with two solid runs at the Aviva 2012 Trials in Birmingham at the weekend.

The 2006 Commonwealth Games 1,500m gold medallist and 2009 World Championships silver medallist suffered the disappointment of finishing fourth at the Beijing Olympics four years ago, but has not given up on a podium place this time around.

She said: "It has all given me a slightly different perspective on things but I am still very ambitious and have worked so hard.

"I have six weeks to get into shape, so I’ll certainly give it my best shot. I have been in similar situations in the past and managed to turn things around quickly, so I am staying positive and believing I can do it again."

The 28-year-old revealed she was back on the track within hours of her trials performance on Sunday evening, and faces a packed schedule over the coming weeks.

She said: "There’s no rest. I’ve got a lot of work to do in order to catch up, so I was up and training at 7am on Monday.

"I am planning to race at the Diamond League meeting at Crystal Palace on July 14 and am looking to doing a race before then too, but we’re yet to decide which one.

"I’m going to spend the next couple of weeks training as I’ve missed a lot."

After problems with her hip, femur and blood clots on the lungs which threatened her future in the sport, Dobriskey is thrilled to be back competing and said: "I was extremely grateful to be able run and then race again so soon after the pulmonary embolism issue."

Dobriskey claims she could not have done any more to secure one of the three GB places up for grabs in the 1,500m in London.

She said: "I’ll still have to wait until next week to find out if I’m in the team, but I have done everything I have been asked to do to prove fitness, and I do meet the selection criteria.

"I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

"It would be amazing to make the team for a home Olympics, especially after a very difficult few months."
