MORE than £30,000 worth of stock was destroyed when fire ripped through a warehouse.

The blaze broke out at Acorn Carpets which trades from the warehouse in Cullett Drive, Rushenden, near Sheerness. Police and fire chiefs are treating it as arson.

Four pumps from Kent Fire and Rescue spent three hours battling the blaze which also destroyed three cars nearby.

The firm's owner, Sheldon Philo, said: “It’s not nice seeing part of your business go up in flames, but we won’t be beaten by this.

“It’s business as usual as far as I’m concerned. None of our customers will be let down. It may take a few weeks to re-stock but we are still trading.”
