Armed robbery suspects face more charges

TWO men awaiting trial for an armed robbery at a building society in New Romney have been charged with other offences.

Dean Jenkins, 39, of Wilks Close, Rainham, and Ben Grehan, 22, a scaffolder from South East London, face charges of possessing a firearm and robbery at Nationwide, in New Romney High Street in October last year.

On Friday, February 9, both men were charged with conspiracy to rob the Abbey National in Herne Bay in August last year and the Nationwide in Paddock Wood in October last year and possession of a sawn off shot gun.

Jenkins was also charged with conspiracy to rob Nationwide branches in Strood and Birchington in August and March of last year.

During the incident in New Romney a 41-year-old man was shot dead by armed Metropolitan Police officers.

A third man, David Jenkins, 60, from Pantheon Gardens, Ashford, is also awaiting trial in relation to the armed robbery in New Romney.
