Archive opens up for morning of Medway memories

Medway’s archive and local studies centre is holding an open morning next week.

The event takes place from 10am and noon on Wednesdayat its base adjacent to the former Civic Centre in Strood.

Two exhibitions will be on show, the first entitled People’s Palaces: prefabs and post war housing in Medway which runs until February 3 2009.

Visitors can also browse Who? What? Where? When? a collection of unidentified photographs in the MALSC collection.

This exhibition has proved so popular that it has been extended until January 31.

There will also be a sale of secondhand books plus mince pies and refreshments for all visitors plus an afternoon talk on popular music in the 19th and 20th centuries..

Tickets cost £4 each, or £3 to members of Friends of Medway Archives. Booking is essential for the afternoon event because places are limited. For further details call MALSC on 01634 332714.
