The Archbishop of Canterbury will pray with the Pope on a visit to Rome today.

Dr Rowan Williams is to lead an evening prayer service with Pope Benedict XVI.

After a private meeting, the pair will travel to the Church of San Gregorio Magno al Celio in the city to worship with monks.

Both the archbishop and the Pop will deliver a homily and light candles together.

The three-day visit forms part of the celebrations of the 1,000th anniversary of the Benedictine monastic family.
