Appeal after young driver dies in crash

A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Paddock Wood died when his car left the road and overturned in Brenchley on Tuesday.

Mark Jelley died after his car, a red Peugeot 205 GTI, left the road in Green Lane, Brenchley at 10.38am, hit some trees and a hedgerow and then overturned.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and Mr Jelley was the only person in the car.

West Kent Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident or Mr Jelley’s car in the area.

They are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a white lorry which had been travelling along the road shortly before the incident.

PC John Brooker, of West Kent Police, said: “There is no suggestion that the lorry was involved in the incident but we hope the driver may remember seeing the car.”

Anyone who can help, should contact West Kent Police on 01732 771055 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
