Appeal after gang attack schoolboy

POLICE are seeking witnesses after a boy of 13 was punched to the ground and set upon by a gang at a skate park.

The victim was walking home from school when he was approached by a group of six boys in Lymington Road, Westgate, near Margate.

One asked him his name and where he went to school before another member of the gang hit him. Police say the others then joined in and the victim fell to the ground.

He managed to get away and ran down the road when a woman pulled up in her car and took him home.

A police spokeswoman said: “We are keen to hear from any witnesses, in particular the ‘good Samaritan’ who helped the victim.”

The culprits are aged between 11 and 15. Five of them were white and one was black.

The youngster who initially spoke to the boy is described as fat with cropped blond hair. The boy who first punched him is black, slim and was wearing black trainers. The incident happened at about 4.30pm last Friday.
