A NEW website has been launched protesting against the proposed £9 billion airport at Cliffe, near Rochester.

The No Airport at Cliffe Campaign Liaison Group is using the internet to keep up pressure against the Government.

The site - www.noairportatcliffe.org.uk - features a comprehensive calendar of No Airport events, contains links to all existing campaign groups' websites and offers free webpages to any groups that do not have their own site.

Joan Darwell, a spokesman for the Campaign Liaison Group, said: "With so many different groups, national and local, adult and youth, all working towards the same goal of there being no airport at Cliffe it is clear that the more we work together, the stronger our message will be.

"We hope that the website will be another step to helping unite conservation and community to make a winning campaign."

Perry Haines, the RSPB's No Airport at Cliffe campaign co-ordinator, said: "The Campaign Liaison Group has been an incredibly useful link with the North Kent communities."

He stressed: "The website is a brilliant idea to provide a forum that pulls together all the different strands of the campaign."

Anyone wanting more information about the website or the campaign should call the 24-hour CLG helpline on 0845 6441474
