Jim Stannard could be in line for a return to Priestfield as goalkeeping coach.

The former Gillingham keeper is set to join Andy Hessenthaler's backroom team on a part-time basis.

It means Hessenthaler will be on the lookout for a young keeper to provide competition for No.1 Alan Julian.

"We're probably looking for a younger keeper that can push Alan and bring a part-time goalkeeping coach in as well," said Hessenthaler.

"I've been talking to big Jim Stannard, who used to be at the club and has left Crystal Palace. Maybe we can get Jim in on a part-time basis with Alan.

"He has also recommended quite a few young keepers who can come in, wouldn't cost us much money and can push for the No.1 shirt.

"I'm pretty much convinced we'll have another goalkeeper in for the first pre-season friendly on July 9."
