Puppy Stewart Albert looks the type of youngster who will be capable of climbing up the grading system here over the next few weeks.

The October 2009 son of Bocelli is trained by Julie Luckhurst and she must be pleased with her dog’s progress too date.

Having run second in his debut race, which was a P3 grade Puppy event, he reappeared a week later to win in bottom grade A8 over 380 metres.

His second career win came in an A7 race on July 7, so two from five is a good strike rate. His trainer will, however, be hoping that the dog can improve on his exits away from the traps as he does have a habit of giving his rivals a head start.

Having said that, you have to admire how he works his way through the field to be there at the business end of affairs. Early days for a nice youngster and he will win at A6 level soon.

The stadium enjoys a close working relationship with Dartford Football Club who currently have greyhound Princes Bark racing under their name at the track.

Before, the club’s interest in the dog he had only ever raced over 380 metres. After discussions with his trainer Pat Thompson, it was felt that it would be interesting to see how the dog would perform around six bends over 540 metres.

Having shown that he could run this trip, he has certainly not let the side down with three wins from his last four starts over the extended distance.

While the dog tends to only just get home in time, he is nonetheless a dog that will always give the club’s supporters something to shout about. He keeps on surprising everyone and I am hoping he keeps on doing

so. They do say that every dog has its day so if that’s true, I will be shouting on Munster Lady to win a race. The Jean Liles-trained dog has finished second in no fewer than seven of her last nine races and seems continuously to find just one too good for her. You have to say that a deserved win is just around the corner.
