Iesel Malc won the feature race, The John Davidson & Colin Wilson Memorial Trophy, on Saturday night.

The Martin Fawcett-trained dog led from traps to winning line to win by two and a half lengths in 34.21 seconds.

Sent off as the even money favourite, the dog never looked in danger and can be expected to come back to Crayford to compete in Open race events in the winter months.

I always look at the other results on the night when we have a top class greyhound win here.

Their times give decent form line guides to our own dog’s performances.

Malc has experience having run 55 races, which include 11 wins in open class, and is a quality greyhound who enjoyed a trouble-free run on Saturday night.

So what does that say about the performance here three races earlier of one of the track’s favourite dogs Aghadown Donna who won a support open, also over 540 metres, in a faster time of 34.11 seconds?

It says that on the clock she would have won the big race. In addition she did not trap well and had to work her way through the opposition around the first two bends to get into the lead.

In this sort of form you would have to say that she is at her best and can not be discounted in forthcoming events.

Track record holder over 380 metres, Tictac Tyson, reminded us all at the weekend that he is still capable of winning races the hard way as he powered his way through the field to win an A3 race in 23.84 seconds.

This is the dog that set the track record in an A1 race in early May when recording a time of 22.97 seconds - the only dog to have ever gone below the 23-second barrier at this stadium.

That’s two A3 wins in his last three outings, so expect A2 next time.

We have two major events in November. The finals of The John Smiths Kent St Leger and The Tony Morris Memorial Rose Bowl will be run on November 25 and 26 respectively.

Collective prize money of £4,500 means quality fields can be expected.
