Hazy Snowdrop is one of the oldest greyhounds currently racing at the track, but he has nonetheless been performing well recently, with three wins in his past six outings.

The May 2007 son of Crash has been putting the youngsters in their place during his wins – twice in grade A5 and once in an A6 race, all over 380 metres.

While it is possible the racing office may now put him up a grade to A4 level that would in my opinion be a little harsh given his age and margins of victory, the last being only by a length-and-a-quarter. So if he is fortunate enough to stay at his current level there must be a reasonable chance that a hat-trick is on the cards.

With the Euro 2012 football starting in June there will be many race-goers here who will be looking for topical tips to back, and they therefore may well notice two of our latest recruits, aptly named Dogadinho and Doganaldo. Whatever next? Dogakaka! So are the pair as talented as their famous namesakes?

Dogadinho has done little wrong with two wins, a second and third place from his first four career races and he looked impressive in his latest win last Thursday afternoon when missing his break but running on well from fifth place to get up and win by a length-and-a-quarter. He handled the crowding and bumping well and he looks a nice prospect.

Litter brother Doganaldo made his debut here on Saturday evening finishing a creditable third, but it is early days and he will have learnt a lot from the experience and with improved trapping ability, which we can expect, it will not be long until he wins his first race. Incidentally there are two other litter brothers to the pair running here – Lordsbury Bath and Lordsbury Thirsk. Don’t recall those two playing for Brazil.

In our Dog and Bitch Of The Month competition for April the girls put the boys to shame somewhat with five of the little ladies managing to win three races each during the month, a feat that not one single male here managed to emulate.

The in-form fivesome were Hastobeheinz, Hot Stepper, Leaha Gaga, Lingrawn Lily and Oneandonly Sarah. If things run to form you can expect the dogs that have featured prominently in the previous month to carry their winning form over into the following month’s event, so they are my tips this week.
