THE Green Motorshow is coming to the Kent Showground next week, as part of the Spiritual Tides Whole Life festival.

The show will feature a number of manufacturers and technologies including the best selling G-wiz electric city car from Goingreen. Cars like the G-wiz offer a number of advantages to the city motorist including no road tax and no London congestion charge, as well as offering a clean, efficient means of transport.

For those who prefer to travel on two wheels, Vectrix will be showing their electric maxi-scooter, the world’s first high-performance electric two-wheel vehicle.

While Green Motorsports, who will be running demonstrations throughout the festival, take the electric concept one step further by using solar panels to recharge the batteries in their electric racing karts.

The company are solely devoted to environmental racing and are in the process of establishing a National "green race series".

Also on display will be the sensational Nasamax Le Mans car, which was developed by a Kent-based team and was the first car to compete in the legendary endurance race running on wholly renewable fuel. The car itself runs on bioethanol, a pure alcohol fuel distilled mostly from sugar beet.

The Battery Vehicle Society will also attend. The society has some 300 members and a wealth of practical experience in converting cars to run on battery power and in operating such vehicles on a day-to-day basis.

The society was founded in 1973 and has grown in importance as awareness of pollution and environmental issues have become more wide spread.

Or how about running your car on vegetable oil? Biomotors, is a specialist in the conversion of diesel vehicles to run on vegetable oil and has a car on display.

* The Spiritual Tides Whole Life Festival runs from March 24 to 26. For more details go to www.spiritualtides.com.
