JOAN GODDARD: Still urging protestors to write to the Government about the issue

A MARCH organised to protest at a planned international airport at Cliffe has been postponed because of the war.

Organisers took the about the April 5 event in response to concerns following the start of military action in Iraq.

Organiser Joan Goddard said: "Even before we took the decision we had a number of people calling us to see if the march was still on."

The group decided to put off the protest as they felt it would not be sensible to arrange a huge meeting of people while tensions high.

The group will be writing to everyone who registered and sending back their cheques. But Mrs Goddard said it was now even more important for people write to the Government opposing the airport.

"If we keep writing when there is something so important going on elsewhere it will show the Government how serious we are about stopping this happen," she added.
