Air ambulance called in after man falls off roof

A contractor was airlifted to a London hospital after falling 8ft from a school roof.

The 47-year-old man was installing some cable in the P block at The Westlands School, Westlands Avenue, Sittingbourne, when the accident happened at about 12.15pm on October 3.

Kent Air Ambulance was called to the scene and the man was taken to King's College Hospital with suspected head, chest and pelvic injuries.

Deputy head teacher Neil Golding said: "The accident happened just before lunch so it sparked a lot of interest and questions were asked by pupils especially when the air ambulance landed. Everyone responded to the situation brilliantly and pupils were shielded from seeing anything unsightly.

"I have spoken to the company the man works for and he is still in hospital."
