He is the teenage running sensation with the hopes of the nation on his shoulders.

But Dartford ace Adam Gemili appears to still be an unknown - at least according to his Olympic pass.

The photo of an unknown man has been used on the 18-year-old world junior 100m champion's official accreditation.

Gemili - Britain's fastest man this year - was shocked to discover the snap of a mystery man next to his name when he received the pass yesterday.

He posted a picture on Twitter of him looking annoyed while holding the rogue pass.

Gemili said: "My Olympic accreditation to get into the games, who even is this guy?!?!?"

The same picture also appeared on the official Olympics mobile app and the BBC Sports website, but has since been replaced.

Gemili, a former Dartford Grammar School pupil, only started running seriously in January after turning his back on a life-long dream to become a professional footballer.

But on Saturday, Gemili will take to the starting blocks for the men's 100m heats - one of the most highly anticipated races of the Games.

The former Wentworth Primary School pupil will be aiming to reach the final on Sunday.

Games officials are understood to be preparing to swap Gemili's pass when he arrives at the Olympic Park.
