£3,000 stolen in raid on rugby club

DETECTIVES are hunting thieves who smashed up New Ash Green Rugby Club's headquarters near Gravesend and stole more than £3,000.

The incident happened between 2am and 6am on Sunday (March 5).

Police were called to the club and found that offenders had forced open the fire door to gain entry to the building.

A police spokeswoman said: "They caused a lot of damage to the interior of the building and stole in excess of £3,000. It appears that the offenders drove away across the rugby fields into Redhill Road."

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen a vehicle driving across the fields or who has any information about this burglary to contact them.
