CANNABIS plants with a street value of more than £250,000 have been found in a terraced house next to a recreation ground - sparking fears that dealers are targeting youngsters.

A haul of more than 230 plants was discovered in the house in Recreation Avenue, Snodland, a quiet residential road, when police swooped on Wednesday morning.

Officers discovered hundreds of plants, growing with the help of a hydroponics system, on the first floor and in the loft space.

Snodland Town Councillor Charlie Grayhurst said although shocked he welcomed the police action.

He said: "We do not want this in our town. I am very shocked that this amount of drugs was found.

Tien Anh Dao, aged 32, of Recreation Avenue, Snodland, was arrested and charged with cultivating cannabis. He was bailed to appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, June 19.
