150 metres of grass goes up in flames

FIREFIGHTERS from three stations were called to deal with 150 metres of burning grass embankment near Junction 5 of the M20 on Thursday.

Crews from Maidstone, Larkfield and Strood attended, taking just under half an hour to put out the flames.

Nobody was hurt.

Although the cause is not certain, Kent Fire and Rescue is urging motorists not to throw their cigarettes out of the window because of current dry conditions.
