A new-look Medway nursery is thrilled to be reopening its doors to children once again following a major refurbishment.

Cherubs Montessori Day Nursery in Strood held an open event on Saturday with local MP Kelly Tolhurst in attendance to see the finished product.

Around 50 parents were shown around the revamped facilities which have undergone a dramatic transformation inside and out to create airy new spaces for young minds to flourish.

Tracey Vick, nursery manager at Cherubs Montessori, said: “It looks more spacious and homely than it ever did before.

“Parents really loved it. They liked the fact the building has been revamped to the high standard it is and that it is very shiny and new.”

The Ofsted-rated “good” pre-school had been shut for the past eight months after a devastating flood ripped through the period Victorian building in Castleview Road causing extensive damage.

But the day nursery is delighted to be reopening for children once again this week after an extensive restoration project, led by Shaun Major Tmiet, to restore it to its past glory.

Tracey extended the day nursery’s thanks to parents Darren Holton and wife Jo, whose restoration company Rainbows Restorations of Rochester, jumped into action to save the building where their daughter attends.

And there are some exciting changes afoot as part of the refurbishment too.

This includes a new forest school where children learn about nature and the environment outside, as well as a sensory room for children with special educational needs or with anxiety due to the pandemic.

There will also be a drop off hour when parents can play with their children and help them relax first before starting the day.
