Warning to businesses after 'distraction' theft

KENT Police are warning businesses in East Kent to beware after a distraction theft in Sandwich.

Two men visited Direct Salvage on the Sandwich Industrial Estate on Tuesday afternoon on the pretence of asking about spare car parts.

One of them engaged the site owner about parts while the other asked if he could use the toilet which is situated next to the owner’s office.

When the men had left the owner realised his mobile phone, which was in his office, had been stolen.

One of the men is described as a white man, aged in his 60s, with collar-length hair and a moustache. He was wearing jeans and a blue jacket.

The other is described as a man of heavy build, aged around 20 to 25, 5ft 8in tall, with short, dark brown hair. He was wearing jeans with a dark top with a light trim.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kent Police on 01304 240055.
