Wall plaques with a difference

THE artistic talents of a Belfast girl and carpentry skills of her partners have invented, designed and manufactured a range of wall plaques they are convinced will take the DIY market by storm.

As J & S Graphics, Joanne Baird, 40, and Steve Horner, 36, have just launched their new Off the Wall moveable plaques made in the garage of their home in Cypress Avenue, Godinton Park, Ashford. They have patented their invention of hand-painted pictures constructed on hardboard on a frame with green felt backing to eliminate wall markings.

Complete with brackets, plugs, hanging templates and fixings they are designed to create calm and serenity in the home or office. What makes them distinctly different is that each of the 30 three-dimensional wall plaques can be rotated to eight different settings, creating eight different appearances. With back lighting they can produce shadows that can additionally transform a room.

The plaques are lightweight and can be made up in sizes up to eight feet. Joanne said: "Ladies love to change the appearance of rooms in their homes and television programmes are featuring more and more 3-D wall plaques, but ours are unique and can provide different looks in moments by switching the work of art images."
