TWO trainee accountants at Baker Tilly in Tunbridge Wells who got top marks in their exams are being awarded for their achievements by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Steve Waters and Matt Stopp have achieved high marks in the Professional Stage of their taxation and business papers, which is the first part of their accountancy qualifications.

They will then go on to complete the advanced stage coupled with some relevant technical experience before becoming fully qualified charted accountants next year.

The trainees will attend the South Eastern Society annual dinner which takes places at the Copthorne Hotel near Gatwick in October where they will be presented with their certificates and gifts by Ian Morris who is the National President of the ICAEW.

Baker Tilly, the top 10 accountancy and business advisory firm, now attracts a high calibre of trainees and take on about 120 across the UK a year.

Bill Owen, managing partner of the Tunbridge Wells office, said: "Steve and Matt have worked extremely hard and we are delighted that their efforts have been rewarded.

"I’m sure they are thrilled their hard work has paid off. Now we are looking forward to seeing them concentrate on building a career at the firm and taking on more responsibility with client work."
