MISS Sittingbourne, Lauren Ayress, and the Mayor of Swale, Cllr Brenda Simpson, performed the honours when Mackay's clothing store re-opened in Sittingbourne High Street.

Mackay's, which has been in the town for more than 20 years, has had a considerable revamp. Manager Jackie Duffell said the staff were delighted with the new look, which took five weeks to complete.

A household department selling items such as bed linen, duvets and curtains has been added and a Plus range of womens' clothes for larger sizes has also been introduced.
