ELEGANCE by name and elegant by design.

That’s the new luxury motor yacht which arrived at Dover Marina and which could be the first of several such boats to be delivered at the port.

Built over a period of eight months by the German company Elegance Yachts, the boat arrived at Dover on board the cargo ship Wiebke and was unloaded at Dover Cruise Terminal.

After the final inspections and fitting out, she made her maiden voyage from Dover to St Catherine’s Dock at the Port of London where she will become a show boat for prospective buyers.

She is also being used as a location for a pop video.

On board at Dover, supervising the finishing touches, were chief executive Michael Bilkus and director Helen Bettles who were delighted with the welcome they received at the port, and the help they had been given by local businesses.

"Dover was the most convenient port to come into, and we have been made very welcome here," said Mr Bilkus.

"We will certainly recommend Dover to future customers."

Made mainly with German components and equipped with powerful Mann engines, Elegance is a 70ft motor yacht, but models can range from 48ft to 160ft.

Each one is custom built to the individual specification. Optional extras include a Jacuzzi.

There are three double bedrooms – each equipped with flat-screen televisions that fold away into the ceiling – indoor and outdoor dining areas, well-equipped galley, bars, sunbeds, satellite navigation, under-floor heating, air conditioning and central heating.

Customers can choose the internal finish and the options range from teak to pink marble.

A "garage door" opens remotely at the stern to reveal the "boys’ toys", ski-bike and jet tender.

The yachts are already popular with customers on the Med – Ralph Schumacher has just bought his second – and the company is hoping for similar success in this country.

Prices start from £550,000, but the Elegance craft which visited Dover costs £1.8million.
