A specialist ground remediation firm has landed another Italian job.

Ecologia, based at Kent Science Park (KSP), Sittingbourne, is to produce, supply and install three explosion-proof extraction systems at a petrochemical plant in Northern Italy.

Ecologia has been working with Italian contractors for some time and this is the latest in a long line of export deals in the country where it has developed equipment for contaminated land projects.

The new extraction systems being developed in Kent will be fitted with high specification components that will allow remote sight of the process and monitoring of well pressures and groundwater depths.

Some of the work will be undertaken at Ecologia’s Italian office.

Managing director Dr Giacomo Maini said: “We already have a rich history of exporting equipment and undertaking projects in Italy and I’m delighted that this will be continuing in 2013 and beyond.”

James Speck, KSP site director, added: “There has been a huge push here at Kent Science Park, and in Swale generally, to focus on exporting as a means to bolster the local economy.

"This contract for the production of these multiphase extraction systems is a prime example of the tireless work taking place by KSP tenants like Ecologia to forge and maintain strong links within the international business community.”
