A DOVER worker has won a business award for his drive and dedication.

Ray Langley, who works for Whitfield-based ABP Connect, the services division of Associated British Ports (ABP), was joint winner of the Commitment to Learning (NVQ) category in the first Profit from Learning Awards.

He is doing a NVQ Level 2 in Warehousing and received the award for demonstrating motivation and commitment towards his training.

Nominated by his training provider JHP Training, Ray collected the award during a special ceremony at the Ashford International Hotel.

"I am over the moon, really chuffed," said Ray.

The award was presented by Allan Chisholm, chairman of the Learning and Skills Council for Kent and Medway, who operate the Profit from Learning training scheme in partnership with Business Link Kent.

Profit from Learning is a Government-funded scheme that provides training up to NVQ Level 2 and help with improving essential skills, such as literacy and numeracy.

Mr Chisholm said: "Ray was unsure initially if he could do the course but has shown great dedication to his NVQ by spending hours putting his statements together. He is on course for early completion and always has his action completed for his assessor."
