Another Post Office in Dover is to close.

Lambton Road Post Office in St Radigund’s will close on August 16 after the new owners of the shop have said they will not continue with the service.

Once it stops operating, the nearest alternatives will be the Buckland branch on London Road, and Crabble at Buckland Bridge.

Both are more than half a mile away and for people living at the furthest point of

St Radigund’s, at the junction of St Radigund’s and Barwick Road, the nearest branch will be more than a mile away.

Dover MP Gwyn Prosser has sought urgent talks with Post Office Limited and is appealing for a replacement to be identified as soon as possible.

The new owner, ‘Sasi’ Sasitharan, said that although he will not take on the role of postmaster, he is happy for someone to rent the counter.

Post Office Ltd is appealing for someone to come forward to run Lambton Road post office.

Spokesman James Eadie said: "We will continue to work hard to restore a facility in the area as soon as possible. Unfortunately our efforts have so far failed to find a replacement sub postmaster."
