GLOBAL medical technology company Zi Medical has chosen Kent Science Park as the location for its research and development headquarters.

The rapidly expanding provider of clinical and pharmaceutical diagnostic tools will be introducing a start-up team of eight staff by the end of September.

Chief scientific officer Mike Wyllie said: "Our new development group has been created specifically to exploit the opportunities in a largely untapped but emergent market place and Kent Science Park has the facilities and local skills in place to help us achieve this.

Nick Sharp, site director at Kent Science Park, added: "This is a major vote of confidence in the park and what it can offer emerging businesses within the highly important scientific community.

"Zi Medical’s decision reinforces our reputation as one of the fastest-growing science parks in the UK and we’re delighted to welcome them and look forward to their commercial success and expansion."
