No more queues for Waitrose account holders

ACCOUNT customers at a Tenterden supermarket are being treated to a new service that promises an end to queuing.

Waitrose has introduced a new system called Quick Check which provides shoppers with their own scanner, allowing them to scan the products as they take them off the shelves and pay for the total at a special till.

"This makes shopping so simple," said branch manager, Iain Smith. "You can check how much you're spending as you go round and it's so quick because it cuts out the queuing."

Customers do not even have to unpack their shopping, unless they are picked by the computer for a check.

Waitrose supplies account holders with green shopping bags which fit into the trolley, allowing shoppers to pack the goods themselves. The system went live this week.
