ABOUT 50 jobs will be created thanks to a new leisure club in Kent, it has been announced.

Construction company Willmot Dixon has been awarded a £4.5m contract to build the centre for ROKO Leisure on the site of the old Civic Service club in Watling Street at Gillingham.

The company has been responsible for building ROKO Leisure's previous three clubs in Portsmouth, Nottingham and Bournemouth.

Work on the site will start later this month and will be finished by November.

The club will feature an array of health facilities, including swimming pools, gym and aerobic studios, crËche, restaurant, beauty salon and lounge.
