Have a say on county blueprint

A PUBLIC meeting is being held for people who would like to know more about the Kent and Medway Structure Plan.

Consultation is under way on draft suggestions for what the plan, called Mapping out the Future, should include.

Residents and anyone else interested in the area's future is encouraged to play their part in the process by commenting on the document, which addresses issues such as economic growth, housing, road provision and boosting our towns and rural areas to ensure they achieve maximum potential.

The public meeting is being held on Tuesday, April 30 at Temple Mill Primary School, Cliffe Road, Strood, at 7.30pm. Another is being held for businesses on Thursday, May 2 at the Visitor Information Centre, High Street, Rochester, at 7pm.

The new plan runs until 2016. It has been jointly produced by Medway Council and Kent County Council and reflects issues throughout the county. The last structure plan was produced in 1996. The new version addresses changes since then. The deadline for comments is Friday, 17 May.
