Free advice day for electricians

AN electrical testing company is offering to unravel the mystery surrounding changes in building regulations.

Homeowners could find they have trouble selling their homes if they do not have certification of any electrical installations made in their dwellings.

As a result of the changes, which came into effect on January 1, all electrical work carried out in domestic dwellings must be completed by a qualified electrician and be certificated. Electricians must gain a Part P certificate of competency to be able to validate their work.

It is likely that electricians are confused by the new regulations and how they are affected. So electrical testing company Megger, in association with City Electrical Factors, has organised a free advice day.

Megger's Peter Halloway will be answering any questions relating to Part P and the day will focus on what measures electricians and electrical contractors must take to comply with the new Building Regulations. There will also be several installationds on display.

Electricians will be able to get calibrations done on their testing equipment at reduced costs.

The event takes place on Wednesday March 23 at CEF's Broadstairs branch at Front Unit, Lysander Close, Pysons Road Industrial Estate, Broadstairs, Kent, CT10 2YJ.
