Farm workers reap their rewards

THREE agricultural workers from the same Kent farming estate will receive long service awards at this year's Kent County Show.

The three, who have more than 120 years service between them, will be presented with their awards at the Detling showground on Friday, July 12.

John Green, 69, of High Halden, George Harris, 66, and Bryan Ballard, 62, both from Bethersden, all work for R. Sternberg Farms, Frenchay Farm, Tenterden.

They have completed 43, 41 and 36 years of continued service respectively.

A fourth worker who will receive the Kent County Agricultural Society Long Service Award. For almost 40 years, William Moore, of Burmarsh, has worked for the Older family at Romney Marsh Farms, Chapel Farm, Burmarsh.

The society's long service awards are for employees of its members who have completed a minimum of 35 years unbroken service (war service excepted) on the same farm/estate or with the same employer.
