Growing renewable energy and engineering firm Enevis has saved 30 Scottish jobs by snapping up a modular construction business

The Dartford-based company has bought Powerwall out of administration for an undisclosed sum.

The off-site enterprise specialises in cutting-edge building products and techniques, including modular buildings and insulation schemes.

Enevis aims to be at the forefront of green technologies and sees the acquisition as adding to its eco-friendly credentials, as well as helping it step up a gear.

Powerwall, based in Lanarkshire, is being split into two divisions - Enewall (for aggregates) and Enemetric (for modular building, including its Volumetric Space Frame Systems). Thirty employees are to keep their jobs.

Gary Mayatt, managing director of Enevis, Enewall and Enemetric, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have completed the purchase of Powerwall, the construction industry experts with whom we have developed a fantastic working relationship during the past 10 months.

"Like many companies, Powerwall has been affected by difficult trading conditions brought on by the current economic and financial crisis and was forced into administration. The newly named companies will form an integral part of our future UK business strategy."

He added the acquisition would bring stability to the company, its staff and customers.

Mr Mayatt added: "It also maximises the key strengths of both parties, allowing us to provide a greater range of services to a greater number of clients. By completing this significant financial and managerial investment we have added an invaluable string to our bow."
