DISCOUNT clothing superstore TK Maxx want to open at Thanet’s £100m Westwood Cross retail centre.

The proposal is supported by the district council planning committee but it has been passed onto full council for decision as the plan is for part of the site that has restricted retail use.

If granted, it would mean a small increase in the overall amount of shopping space.

The application will also go before the Government Office of the South East that will decide whether to call the application in for determination by the Secretary of State.

Cllr John Kirby, council cabinet member for planning, said: "TK Maxx is a popular store. It is new to Thanet and will complement the existing confirmed stores.”
