It's been the best summer ever for cars using the Channel Tunnel, figures revealed today.

Eurotunnel says over half a million used the Folkestone to Calais shuttle in July and August - 17 per cent more than in the same period last year.

August 14 was a record day, with almost 15,000 cars and 150 coaches.

In July, Eurotunnel carried its 250 millionth passenger since services started in 1994.
