Carrier gives credit to expert advice

A FREIGHT company in Sittingbourne says it is on the road to success thanks to some expert business advice.

Since it was established in 1980, Fast Forward International has enjoyed steady, sustained growth, assisted by Business Link Kent adviser Richard Green.

Founded and owned by husband and wife team Colin and Naomi McKay, the company has its main depot on the town's Eurolink estate, from where it handles road, sea and air imports as well as exports.

Starting with a single vehicle the McKays gradually expanded their fleet to 11 and now employ 25 people.

Mrs McKay, the company secretary, said: "Developing the business was very important to us - when we needed good advice, Business Link Kent was there.

"It has been immensely useful to have a business adviser who is not involved in the day-to-day running of our business and can see things in a more detached, less emotional way."

Recognition of the company's success came with the publication by the Kent Messenger Group/KPMG/Lloyds TSB, of our 'Megagrowth 50' list of Kent businesses. The firm was ranked Kent's 14th fastest growing privately owned business - in terms of turnover - the only freight company included.
