MILLIONS of pounds could pour into the Kent economy on the back of a big budget new film, tourism chiefs believe.

The Other Boleyn Girl, starring Natalie Portman as the doomed Anne, and Scarlett Johansson as her sister Mary, is set in three stunning locations in Kent.

Now the tourist industry in Kent hopes that the film of sexual tension and rippling torsos could bring in tourists from all over the world keen to visit Penshurst Place, Dover Castle and Knole.

The visitors, dubbed "set jetters", will also be able to see Hever Castle, the real-life childhood home of the Boleyn sisters.

And they can splash out on a stay at the Hotel du Vin or the Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells - where cast members stayed while filming.

Sandra Matthews-Marsh, chief executive of the Kent Tourism Alliance, said interest in the film had the potential for bringing millions of pounds into the Kent economy.

A website has been launched, with a downloadable movie tour map and information on places to stay and to eat.

Monitoring will be set in place to see exactly what financial impact the film, already showing in the US and the UK, has on tourism.

She said: "This is a huge boost for tourism and a great hook for us.

"Firstly we hope to attract the so-called ‘set jetters’, people who like to visit sets of films.

"We have three great venues then an authentic venue in the shape of Hever. It is a hat-trick plus one for Kent.

"In addition, we would encourage Kent residents to look at places on the tour that they may not have visited for a while and to look at these places with new eyes."

In the film, Knole’s usually grassy inner courtyard is covered in mud to represent a courtyard at Whitehall Palace. Numerous arrivals and departures are filmed there. Knole also doubles as London by night in several sequences.

Dover Castle becomes the Tower of London, and Penshurst Place is the location for Henry and Anne’s wedding feast.
