Bid to keep health club open

A RESCUE package is being worked on today to re-open a health club just a day after it closed when its owners became insolvent.

The Green Health Club at Charing shut when the company Speed 9404 Ltd went into administration at 10am yesterday following an order by Tunbridge Wells County Court.

The appointed administrators are currently discussing a purchase with prospective new owners and hope the club can re-open by the end of today.

Steve Tancock, director of the Maidstone insolvency practitioners Smith and Williamson Restructuring and Recovery, said: "We are currently in the process of finalising of sale before the end of today."

The administrators are not yet revealing the name of the prospective buyer but the rescue of the Pluckley Road club would save the jobs of up to 13 staff and revive the membership of its 800 customers.
