A 90-year old accounting name has been consigned to history, but its achievements live on in three letters.

Ashford-based W K Finn-Kelcey, part of Wilkins Kennedy since 2008, is now known as Wilkins Kennedy FKC.

The C refers to Chapman. Until its merger with Wilkins Kennedy in 2008, it was known as Finn-Kelcey & Chapman, a business founded in 1920.

Wilkins Kennedy FKC is headed by Hugh Summerfield, with four partners and 70 staff. It offers accounting and business advice to a large client base of individuals and businesses across Kent.

Mr Summerfield, a partner at Wilkins Kennedy, said: "The new name Wilkins Kennedy FKC reflects our merged business operation more accurately. After consultation we decided we wished to maintain the local historical name connection but, at the same time, highlight the availability of our new solid, larger product base."

Wilkins Kennedy was established in 1882 and is now one of the UK's top 22 firms of chartered accountants and business advisers with a turnover of £27 million. The firm has 53 partners and almost 400 staff in 12 offices across southern England, including Ashford and Orpington.
