One of the oldest accountancy firms in the UK has announced a merger with another organisation.

MHA MacIntyre Hudson today revealed that they will partner Spain Brothers, an established firm of chartered accountants.

The Folkestone-based office will now operate under the MacIntyre Hudson name, with the two partners and 20-strong workforce to continue working from the location.

Since its formation in 1880, the firm has made a name for itself as one of the most established in the industry, currently working as a top 20 firm – sitting 18th in Accountancy Age’s 50+50 survey of the UK’s biggest firms.

Spain Brothers, whose services include auditing, accounting, personal and business tax advice for clients in the south east, will merge with MacIntyre Hudson in what they feel will be a positive move.

Spain Brothers partner, Peter Cheney said: “We are excited to be joining MHA MacIntyre Hudson. This union will enable us to provide a greater breadth and depth of services to our current Kent client base.

Speaking on the merger, MHA MacIntyre Hudson chairman Rakesh Shaunak said: “Kent continues to be an exciting market place and we continue to see it as a growth area. Our Canterbury and Maidstone offices have provided us with a favourable presence in the region for several years.

"With the Spain Brothers Folkestone office, we now have the opportunity to work much more closely with businesses across the county and take advantage of the opportunities on offer.”

MHA MacIntyre Hudson have offices all over the UK, including Kent-based locations at Maidstone and Canterbury.
