Hythe build 3-1 first-leg advantage in cup

Hythe Town hit back from a 1-0 deficit at half-time to defeat holders Erith Town 3-1 in the first leg of their Premier Division Cup semi-final at Reachfields on Tuesday.

Marcus Cassius gave Erith a 20th-minute lead but then Hythe struck three times in the second half through Dave Cook (48mins), Mo Takaloo (54mins) and Michael Smissen (58mins) to give themselves a strong chance of progressing in next week's second leg.

On Saturday, Hythe and Erith had met at Reachfields in the league, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.

But the result meant that Hythe extended their lead at the top of the Premier Division to four points as second-placed Holmesdale lost 1-0 at home to VCD Athletic.
