Police and ambulance called to Bank Street, Hythe

Four people were taken to hospital and seven men arrested following two reported assaults in the same street within 24 hours.

Kent Police and ambulance were called at 8.20am yesterday (Monday) following a report that a man had been assaulted in Bank Street, Hythe.

Officers attended and a man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of assault and later released under investigation.

A witness to the incident said they saw a man "running around the High Street with no shirt covered in blood" and also saw two men fighting.

Then today, officers were called to the same road at 6.35am following a reported altercation between a group of men. Ambulance crews also attended.

Three people required hospital treatment and five men have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

Officers are currently treating the two reports as linked and have launched an appeal for information.
