Hit-and-run suspect granted police bail

A 61-year-old woman being questioned by police in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The victim, Ruby Lovett, 92, of Hospital Hill, Seabrook, near Hythe, died at Ashford's William Harvey Hosptial on Sunday morning.

The previous afternoon she was found lying in Seabrook Road, Hythe, close to the junction with Hospital Hill, by a member of the public who alerted the emergency services.

Kent police say the woman who has been released on police bail lives locally.

An appeal for information is still being made by police. Det Sgt Mark Button said: "We still need to talk to anyone who was in the Seabrook and Hospital Hill area of Hythe on Saturday afternoon.

"Anyone who knows anything that could help us is asked to call the witness appeal line on 01622 600 970."

The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held.
